October Outings in Lancaster County

That magical time of year is finally here! Crisp autumn air lures us from our lairs and tempts us to partake in spooky shenanigans and menacing mischief.

Lancaster County has plenty of places to enjoy frightful fun. Here are five of the best!

Cherry Crest Adventure Farm

Plan to spend an entire day at Cherry Crest. There’s so much entertainment for everyone, including the world-renowned Amazing Maize Maze, jump pillows, pig races, and Country Road Carts just to name a few of the many attractions. In addition, the farm offers field trips, party barns, campfire rentals, and plenty of delicious food to indulge in. Prices start at $15. Season tickets available. All ages.

Jason’s Woods

If you prefer the thrill of fear-inducing frolicking, Jason’s Woods is where you need to be. For 30 years, the fine folks at JW have offered up the scariest scenarios to get your pulse racing and your adrenaline rushing. Five attractions are available including the Horrifying Hayride, Chamber of Horrors, and Carnival of Fear. Not for the faint of heart. Prices start at $25. Group rates are available. All ages, though not recommended for younger children.

Ghost Tours

Perhaps you prefer a terrifying tour! The historic city of Lancaster offers a walking ghost tour for those who long to seek out sentient spirits. It departs from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Penn Square and explores over 300 years of haunted Red Rose City history. Tickets begin at $10. All ages. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. A Strasburg ghost tour is also available.

All Hallows Eve Photo Shoot

Grab your cameras and try to capture ghosts and ghouls on film. On Sunday, October 22nd, Strange Vision Productions presents this exciting event that takes place in the wicked woods! Photographer tickets start at $20. Models dressed in costumes earn free admission. Props and costuming will be available for use.

Strasburg Spooktacular

This brand new attraction at the world-famous Strasburg Rail Road takes place on October 28th. It features a family-friendly event where all are encouraged to dress up. Board the train and take a chilling choo choo tour through Lancaster County’s harvest landscape. Stop at Groff’s Grove to partake in a festive Halloween celebration. Hop back on board and return to the East Strasburg station for even more creepy antics! Prices start at $4. All ages.
